KEYS TO UNDERSTADING YOUR ROLE IN GOVERNMENT:
1. God’s heart for nations is often not released except through prayer:
You do not have, because you do not ask. (James 4:2) May we be bold in our prayer to ask for God’s direction and intervention.
2. Humility is paramount:
God promises to heal our land “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
May we repent with humility.
3. The church must lead in reflecting God’s values in our nation:
“You are the salt of the earth.” (Matthew 5:13) May we lead our nation in pursuing godly government at every level.
4. We are commanded to pray for our leaders:
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. (1 Timothy 2:1-2)
May we obey the command to pray regularly for our leaders.
